Paul: I would love to see a pick up in the black community, but, unfortunately, there is very little evidence that it will take place. Many of the ones I talk to are very good people but they still have that dependence on government attitude that seemed to take hold in the welfare based community. There seems to be a very disproportionate dependence on government for the basics such as housing, educational grants and loans, jobs (including such things as hiring, promotions, working conditions and if not satisfied there is a very quick trigger of a discrimination claim). What I see on the streets is not only sad, but abominable. Such basic attitudes as civility when walking along the street, standing in line for the bus, and treatment of one another is totally lacking in a very large percentage who were raised in a single parent home in the inner city. This element is totally unqualified for anything based on elementary skill sets starting with basic language skills, dress, and educational training and skills.
How we can do something within reason to help them achieve is beyond anything I can think of without forced behavioral changes that could apply to all but to a large extent to this group.
I also think that we have a huge number of other social misfits like the Hispanic drug gangs, Hells Angels, White Ari ans and others that will just keep getting worse unless they are forced to clean up their act or something more drastic corrective measures taken for the good of society. We as a society coddle these people who are rotten to the core and have never contributed and will probably never contribute to the the rest of us in a free society.
The real question: what can we do to change this behavior and at the same time improve their status so they will want to change without violating the constitution?

Thank you Bill. Long term predictions (approx. 100 years out) show a possible 3 way tie between Whites, Hispanics and Asians, while the black population drops to fourth place. Much of the population growth will be regionalized, with Hispanics occupying the South and Southwest as well as major cities such as Chicago, LA, and New York. Asians will be mainly along the West Coast, especially in San Francisco and Seattle. Whites will be found mainly in Mid-West and Northwest (Montana, the Dakotas, etc). Blacks will tend to remain mostly in urban areas. Of course, a lot can change in 100 years!

Dear Paul,
Thank you once again for a very professional, well done, article. Just a couple of comments. It is scary for as you point out change will take place and we are all afraid of change. What is also interesting is that there are dichotomies in my way of thinking. For example, the Mexicans are Catholic and therefore more controllable - but we all know that this is not true - the largest and most violent gangs in the S.W. U.S. come from this element. We also, as you point out, know that the Mexicans are gravitating to the Protestant religions who are catering to their unique culture. I also like the idea of Asians coming into the country as that is where the real brainpower seems to be, but from my experience, most of them from mainland China have no formal religion. Most of them seem to practice some form of Confucian ideas which may incorporate some Buddhist ideas. For the most part those people seem to be good hard working citizens.
Finally,China's plan to take advantage of the natural resources of other countries is a brilliant strategy and the U.S. should have followed a similar path instead of what we have done in the Middle East where we are hated.
